Acne & Skincare

Skrivet:    ·  Body, Generally, Make up

After five years, I can say that I have finally beat acne despite the occasional flare-ups. Personally, I have dry and sensitive skin which scars easily. Remember, this is based on my own game of trial-and error; these products may not agree with you!

First and foremost, it is important to understand that relying on topical solutions is not realistic. For a lot of us, the issue could be a result of a biological reason or food sensitivities, so keep an eye on your diet and cycles. In the case you need to turn to topical treatments however, be sure to read the ingredients; look out for anything you may be allergic to, and try to avoid parabens and fragrance.

My routine:
Morning and Evening
◎ Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - this does not foam, which is a plus for dry skin.
◎ Cold water as toner - does the job.
◎ La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo - keeps scarring and acne outbursts to a minimum.
◎ Cetaphil Moisturising Cream - the only moisturiser I have found to work for my extremely dry skin, as it is designed to be used in conjunction with drying medicated solutions such as benzoyl peroxide.
◎ Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix - helps with improving the skin’s texture whilst toning and moisturising it. This has transformed my forehead in particular.
Over twice a week
◎ St Ives Gentle Apricot Facial Scrub - exfoliates skin and leaves it radiant.

Other notes:
◉ Drink as much water as you can. It’s a simple, but effective step in improving the quality of your skin.
◉ Steam your face to unclog pores; even more rewarding when you use Tea Tree Toner Tab from Lush.
◉ Double cleanse to remove all traces of makeup.
◉ All natural is not all good. You could be sensitive or allergic to some natural ingredients too, so be careful.
◉ Face masks for a little extra TLC - if you would like a post on how to pick the right face mask for you, let us know!

The biggest advice I can give you is: keep it simple. As hard as it is, don’t stress - that’s certainly not going to help!
